1) What inspired you to start your own blog?
Necessity. I had a blog with my wife and it was getting clogged up with beer posts. I packed up my beer posts and took off to start Craft Austin. Then My Last Pint. And finally Austin Beer Guide.
2) Do you have a favorite post on your blog?
Probably my “Euro Beer” series covering every drink I had in Europe on a trip we made in 2007. I’m only 15 posts in, lots more to come.
3) If you could narrow it down to one answer, what do you love the most about Austin? Why?
Free, decent skateparks, especially the new one downtown.
4) What does “being local,” mean to you?
Drinking on my porch; eating at home.
5) What are some of your favorite local independent establishments?
Two great bars near my house:
Draught House and Billy’s on Burnet. Nothing new here. Most people know these spots. Draught House brews their own beer, has a huge selection of beer from around the USA and the world, and a relaxed atmosphere. Billy’s is the closest best bar to my house. They just added a handful of taps, great lineup for a local pub. Good food, with some of the best vegetarian bar food in Austin.
